Trump’s barber shop security barricade breached by pro-Palestine protester

Man rides his bike past barriers set up by police and Secret Service near where former president makes appearance in the Bronx, New York

Donald Trump’s barber shop security barricade was breached by a pro-Palestinian protester in the latest example of Secret Service failings.
The man, whose identity is unknown, rode his bike past barriers set up by the Secret Service and local law enforcement officers near where the former president was making an appearance in the Bronx, New York.
Footage of the incident shows the man riding a mountain bike and shouting “Free Palestine” while flying a Palestinian flag above his head.
He is then filmed giving an expletive-laden speech in which he shouts: “You the same, IDF, KKK” — a comparison between Israel’s army and white supremacist group the Ku Klux Klan. He then attempted to set fire to a white rag using a lighter.
The man was eventually detained and handcuffed by law enforcement officers before being escorted away and placed into a New York police department car.
As he left the scene, he told those gathered: “I served my community” and claimed this was a “peaceful” demonstration.
The former president did not arrive at the barber shop until an hour and a half after the incident took place.
Ahead of Trump’s visit, there was a significant security presence, including a large white tent, set up outside the King of Knockouts barber shop, according to 4 New York.
News 12 reported that staff at the shop were wearing “Make Barbers Great Again” merchandise in a nod to the former president’s slogan.
It comes after an independent panel appointed by Homeland Security found that future attempts on Trump’s life “can and will happen again”.
The warning followed a previous bipartisan report, commissioned in the wake of the first attempt to assassinate Trump at a rally in Butler, that found the Secret Service needed “fundamental reform”.
During the Pennsylvania rally, Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to climb onto a roof of a nearby building where he shot at and wounded the former president.
The Secret Service is tasked with 24-hour protection of the president, vice-president, former holders of both offices, and all presidential and vice presidential candidates of the major parties.
However, Trump does not receive the same level of protection as current office holders.
The former president is in New York for Thursday night’s Al Smith charity dinner, which is traditionally attended by presidential candidates. Kamala Harris is skipping the event, so a recorded message from her will play instead.
